To introduce even more Valley residents and visitors to its award-winning flour tortillas and authentic, homemade Mexican cuisine, Carolina’s Mexican Food will celebrate the grand opening of its first Glendale location on Tuesday, January 10.  The sixth restaurant in the popular chain founded by Carolina and Manuel Valenzuela in 1968 – and proudly operated by their grandchildren today – is located on the northwestern corner of 59th Avenue and Greenway Road, at 5920 West Greenway Road.

“Our customers have been asking us to open a restaurant in Glendale for years, and we took our time to find the ideal location for them,” explained Brian Jones, chief operating officer at Carolina’s Mexican Food. “Not only will this new location better serve some of our long-time fans, it will also allow us to introduce our authentic Sonoran-style Mexican food to a whole new clientele. For anyone who lives or works in the area, we built out a beautiful new restaurant where customers can dine in or take out. We also offer the convenience of online ordering, and even offer catering for pickup and delivery.”

The Glendale restaurant grand opening on January 10 will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by local dignitaries, balloon making, and giveaways throughout the day. The first 100 customers in line are guaranteed to receive a free gift card and one lucky attendee will win free burritos for one year.

The new location, which created forty new jobs for the local community, is open Monday through Saturday, 8:00 am to 8:30 pm, and closed on Sundays.

A decades-old Phoenix-area staple, Carolina’s Mexican Food began when the Valenzuelas sold homemade tortillas, burritos and tamales out of the back of a car at wrestling matches and to migrant farmworkers. Over the past 54 years, the family-owned restaurant chain has grown and thrived, adding five restaurants conveniently located throughout the greater Phoenix area and being consistently voted Best Tortillas, Best Tamales and Best Tacos by local media outlets.

To further build their brand and provide loyal customers with additional ways to experience their award-winning fare, Carolina’s recently introduced several new products including Carne Asada Fries, Carolina’s Burrito and the Big Meal Deal, with fifteen of any combination of bean burritos and chicken or beef tacos. They also offer a loyalty program that lets customers earn points for every purchase and awards them bonus points throughout the year. Points can be accrued and redeemed for any items on the menu.

Carolina’s has five locations in the Valley. Victoria Tiedens and her husband, David Tiedens, own and operate the new Glendale location, as well as the north Phoenix, Peoria and Mesa restaurants. Victoria’s sisters run the central Phoenix and Avondale restaurants.
