{"id":173955,"date":"2023-02-10T09:28:46","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T16:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inbusinessphx.com\/?p=173955"},"modified":"2023-02-10T09:28:46","modified_gmt":"2023-02-10T16:28:46","slug":"super-industry-arizonas-sports-and-tourism-sector-contributes-24-1-billion-to-state-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.inbusinessphx.com\/?p=173955","title":{"rendered":"Super Industry: Arizona\u2019s Sports and Tourism Sector Contributes $24.1 Billion to State Economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/inbusinessphx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Super-Bowl-LXII.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-173956\" src=\"http:\/\/inbusinessphx.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Super-Bowl-LXII-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As Super Bowl LVII descends on Arizona,<a href=\"https:\/\/commonsenseinstituteaz.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=4322534f74aa50e39d8513b47&amp;id=0c9738c970&amp;e=4b6677dfea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0a new report\u00a0<\/a>from the non-partisan Common Sense Institute finds that the total impact of the state\u2019s sports and tourism sector is significant \u2013 a total of $24.1 billion in Gross Domestic Product and hundreds of thousands of jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, this important industry \u2013 11 percent of our workforce and 6.4 percent of total economic activity \u2013 is only expected to grow over the next several years, buoyed in part by this week\u2019s Super Bowl in Glendale.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the reports key findings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$24.2 billion:<\/strong>\u00a0Contribution of the sports &amp; tourism sector to Arizona\u2019s Real Gross Domestic Product in 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>$13.7 billion:<\/strong>\u00a0Direct sales by Arizona\u2019s hotels, casinos, sports and other professional performance venues, and other components of the state\u2019s sports &amp; tourism sector in 2022.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>347,500:<\/strong>\u00a0Number of people directly and indirectly employed by Arizona\u2019s sports &amp; tourism sector, or 11% of the state\u2019s total workforce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3.0%:<\/strong>\u00a0Projected average annual growth rate of the sector over the next decade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cArizona\u2019s moderate climate, excellent hospitality industry and major event spaces have made it a magnate tourism destination,\u201d\u00a0said Katie Ratlief,\u00a0Executive Director of the Common Sense Institute.\u00a0\u201cThis growing sector is a massive contributor to our economy, and big events like this weekend\u2019s Super Bowl will only continue the momentum. Arizona\u2019s hospitality industry is truly the \u2018welcome mat\u2019 for millions of visitors to our state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArizona\u2019s sports and tourism industry has been through a lot of challenges over the past three years,\u201d said Kim Sabow, Vice Chair of the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority Board. \u201cThanks to our operators and our dedicated employees, we\u2019ve come out the other side stronger.
