Governor Hobbs announced that Chad Campbell, former House Democratic Leader and longtime public affairs and policy consultant, will become chief of staff to the governor on Monday, June 5th.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs House Democratic Leader, Chad Campbell effectively led his caucus and worked across the aisle to get big things done for the State of Arizona,\u201d said Governor Hobbs. \u201cWhile we served in the legislature together, we worked with our Republican colleagues to expand Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of Arizonans. Chad\u2019s extensive experience and commitment to working together to solve tough problems is exactly why he\u2019s the best person for this job, and we\u2019re eager to get to work on more bipartisan accomplishments to move our state forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a great privilege to take on this critical role in Gov. Hobbs\u2019 administration and an incredible opportunity to serve our state,\u201d Chad Campbell said. \u201cIn the many years Gov. Hobbs and I have worked together, we\u2019ve shared a commitment to bipartisan, solutions-oriented leadership. That\u2019s what has made her such an effective governor, and that\u2019s the approach the administration will continue to bring to all we do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell and Gov. Hobbs served in the legislature together representing the same district for four years. Campbell has separated from Lumen Strategies to take on this new position in the Hobbs administration.<\/p>\n

Chad Campbell is an Arizona native with over twenty years of experience in public affairs, campaign management, and issue advocacy. In 2006, Chad was elected to the Arizona Legislature, where he served eight years in the State House. In both his third and fourth terms, he was elected by his peers to serve as the House Democratic Leader, becoming one of the youngest Minority Leaders in the history of Arizona.<\/p>\n

During his eight years in the legislature, Chad was viewed as a progressive and outspoken leader, but one who governed through a pragmatic lens and could work in coalitions and across the aisle on a consistent basis. Most notably, during his time as the House Democratic Leader, he worked with Governor Brewer and a coalition of Democrats and Republicans to pass Medicaid expansion.<\/p>\n

He was also a constant advocate for an expansive array of bipartisan issues, including small business advocacy, renewable energy, education, free speech, and equal rights. Throughout his legislative career, Chad developed a reputation as a lawmaker who relished tackling the tough issues.<\/p>\n

After leaving the legislature, Chad moved into the private sector and co-founded Lumen Strategies, where he worked on improving Arizona through a wide range of issues for public, non-profit, and private sector clients.<\/p>\n

In addition to his professional and elected experience, he\u2019s been an adjunct faculty member at Arizona State University, served on non-profit boards, and actively participates in both the Leading for Change Fellowship and Flinn-Brown Academy to mentor current and future leaders.<\/p>\n

In his rare downtime, you will most likely find him exploring the great outdoors with his wife on their mountain bikes or kayaks, cheering on the Diamondbacks and Suns, or checking out the newest local brewery or restaurant. Chad is a graduate of Northern Arizona University and considers Flagstaff his second Arizona residence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
