Avnet awarded twelve community grants that support various organizations across the U.S. Avnet focuses on four areas of giving and employee volunteerism: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), Communities in Crisis, and the Environment. Grants are reviewed and selected on a quarterly basis.
Grants awarded in the current cycle include:
Boys and Girls Clubs of Scottsdale (AZ): Support for their “Adding A to STEM” program through digital art at three under-resourced branches.
Center for Excellence in Education (U.S.): Expansion of their STEM Lyceums across 12 states to increase the accessibility of scientific information to underserved and underrepresented high school students.
Education Empowers (AZ, CA, OR): Virtual and in-person STEM and STEAM programming that reaches over 10,000 youth across multiple states each year, including girls in rural communities.
Girls Scouts AZ Cactus Pine (AZ): Funding will support the pilot of a summer STEAM challenge across AZ, the two-month program will incorporate STEAM programs in workshops and camps.
Girl Scouts of NE Texas (TX): Support for their STEM Center for Excellence which provides girls year-round opportunities in robotics, computer coding, botany, chemistry, and more.
Hattie B. Foundation (AZ): Funding will help transport girls to their summer camp in Sierra Vista, AZ. The camp is designed to foster sisterhood and instill self-assurance in girls between the ages of 6-18.
House of Refuge (AZ): Support of their transitional housing program in Mesa, AZ. Case management services for families include job readiness programs.
Ribbit Network (U.S.): Funding includes sensor kits and educational curriculum to support their vision to create the world’s largest greenhouse gas emissions dataset.
Si Se Puede (AZ): Support of their STEM Robotics program that supports multiple robotics teams in AZ, focusing on under-resourced communities.
Southwest Human Development (AZ): Partnership for their MAKERS of Change Assistive Technology Challenge, where over 280 high school students compete to create a therapeutic solution for a child with a disability.
Swift Youth Foundation (AZ): Support for their STEM/STEAM programming for youth in AZ from under-resourced communities including their summer camp and year-round programs.
Waste Not (AZ): Support for their 35-year-old program that connects tens of thousands of people in need with quality food that would have otherwise gone to waste
