Arizona residents donated more than $5 million to more than 875 Arizona nonprofits as part of the 2023 Arizona Gives Day, preliminary results show.
With this year’s preliminary total, Arizona Gives Day has now generated nearly $42 million for Arizona nonprofits over the past decade. The event, which is presented by the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits + Arizona Grantmakers Forum, raised more than $6 million in 2022.
Although donations received because of Arizona Gives are still being tallied, Alliance of Arizona Nonprofit team members are pleased with the giving levels this year considering uncertain economic times, inflation and other factors. This year’s result shows a steady level of commitment by Arizona residents to their communities.
More than 26,000 donations were made to 876 of the 986 participating nonprofits to bring the preliminary grand total raised since the event began in 2013 to nearly $42 million. During the event, 1,366 volunteers pledged a total of 59,110 hours to their favorite nonprofit organizations.
More than 986 nonprofits registered to be part of the annual day of giving. All registered nonprofits had an opportunity to win one of the more than 120 cash prizes totaling $180,000 as well, with results of those challenges being released in the coming days.
“We are very pleased to see Arizonans continue to recognize and value the contributions of our local nonprofits in our community,” said Kristen Wilson, CEO of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits + Arizona Grantmakers Forum. “This year’s results are an indicator of donors’ ongoing commitment to giving to causes they care most about even in a challenging economic climate. These funds will help strengthen our communities at an important time.”
The 2023 event was once again presented by FirstBank, one of the nation’s largest privately held banks with a focus on “banking for good.” The final numbers to be released later this month will include prize pool distributions of more than $180,000 and additional donations that came in after the 24-hour online fundraiser was complete.
